PLIDA(The Italian Language Proficiency Test)

Since October 2024, the application process for the PLIDA Italian language proficiency exam has changed.

Before applying for the PLIDA Italian language proficiency exam, it is necessary to register on the Dante Association’s account management page, dante.global. By registering on dante.global, you will be able to:

  • Verify your exam number (Codice Esame)
  • Check your exam results
  • Obtain your PLIDA certificate upon passing the exam

To register, please visit certificazioneplida.dante.global, click on “Accedi” (Login), and then select “Registrati qui” (Register here). Register using your email address. After completing your registration, please use the email address you registered with when applying for the PLIDA exam.

PLIDA 2025 Exam Schedule

Here is the schedule for the upcoming PLIDA Italian language proficiency exams:

  • PLIDA: February 23, 2025 (Sunday): A2/B1 level
    *Application Period: January 13, 2025 (Monday) – February 10, 2025 (Monday) 23:59
  • PLIDA: March 23, 2025 (Sunday): B2/C1 level
    *Application Period: February 10, 2025 (Monday) – March 10, 2025 (Monday) 23:59
  • PLIDA: May 25, 2025 (Sunday): A2/C2 level
    *Application Period: April 14, 2025 (Monday) – May 12, 2025 (Monday) 23:59
  • PLIDA: June 15, 2025 (Sunday): B1/B2/C1 level
    *Application Period: May 7, 2025 (Wednesday) – June 2, 2025 (Monday) 23:59
  • PLIDA: September 14, 2025 (Sunday): A2/B1 level
    *Application Period: August 4, 2025 (Monday) – September 1, 2025 (Monday) 23:59
  • PLIDA: November 16, 2025 (Sunday): A2/B1/B2/C1/C2 level

Applications for the PLIDA certification exam can be made through our website.

Urgent Correction Service

This service is for those who want to know their PLIDA exam results earlier than the usual announcement.

*Please note that the actual answers to the exam will not be provided. (The results may take a few weeks to be available after the exam day.)

Fee: ¥3,250 (including tax) per attempt
Eligible: PLIDA exam (PLIDA Juniors are not eligible)

Important Notice

*For those who wish to use the certificate for visa applications or school admissions, please prepare at least six months in advance. The exam results will be announced approximately two months after the exam, and the certificate will be mailed from the Rome headquarters (this may take up to 3 months). Every year, some people fail to receive their certificates in time for important applications, so please plan accordingly.

*For those needing an English or Japanese version of the certificate: The Rome headquarters will issue the PLIDA exam certificate in Italian. If you require an English or Japanese version, this can be arranged for an additional fee. Please contact us for further details.

Refund of Exam Fee

In principle, the exam fee is non-refundable. However, if you contact the administration office 15 days before the exam date, or provide a certificate (such as a doctor’s note or an equivalent document) confirming your absence within 60 days after the exam, you may retake the exam in the next session without any additional fee. Please note that the exam venue cannot be changed in such cases.

Additionally, if your Società Dante Alighieri membership has expired, a new membership fee must be paid. If you upgrade to a higher level, any difference in fees must be paid. If you downgrade to a lower level, no refund will be issued for the price difference.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, or other unforeseen circumstances, the exam may be postponed or canceled. Any changes will be announced on this page, so please check it if you are applying for the exam.
