The course is for children aged 6 to 8 who want to start learning to read and write or strengthen and improve their literacy skills.
General learning objectives
The MELA VERDE course, spanning 6 terms, helps children develop essential reading and writing skills. They will gradually learn to read and write words with more complex spelling, read sentences and short texts fluently, and write different types of texts, including stories, autobiographies, informational pieces, and instructions. The course also introduces the basics of Italian grammar and sentence structure.
Another key goal is to strengthen communication skills. Children will practice listening to and understanding stories and texts, speaking and interacting in Italian, expanding their vocabulary, and improving how they use the language.
The course content includes topics in history, geography and science, chosen to match the children’s interests and experiences. These themes make it easier to understand readings, encourage conversation, and expand vocabulary. Children can also take part in fun educational and cultural activities like music sessions, mosaic workshops, cooking classes, and futsal.

TEXTBOOK
Each cycle, students will receive materials and teaching aids created by Il Centro. All materials and teaching aids are specifically designed for the corresponding course. The materials focus on strengthening communication skills, reading comprehension, writing order, and grammar in Italian. The cost of the materials is included in the enrollment fee.
